Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou engaged in a tense altercation before the latter’s upcoming bout against Anthony Joshua. Ngannou is set to face Joshua in his second boxing match, scheduled for Friday.
Fury, known as the “Gypsy King,” has arrived in Saudi Arabia to support his brother Roman Fury, who will also be fighting on the undercard. Additionally, Fury will be present at ringside for the highly anticipated main event between Joshua and Ngannou.
The victor of the Joshua-Ngannou fight is poised to potentially face the winner of Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk. This follows Fury’s controversial victory over Usyk last October for the WBC title.
Prior to a potential rematch, Fury and Ngannou had a heated exchange while posing for a photo with Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh.
According to Andy Lee, recounting the incident to iFL TV, Fury confronted Ngannou, accusing him of disparaging remarks in interviews, branding Fury as a coward and a yellow belly.
Ngannou maintained his composure, denying the allegations. However, Fury persisted, reminding Ngannou of their past encounter and asserting his dominance.
Despite the tense moment, both fighters maintained their ground. Fury, showing assertiveness, made it clear that he would handle his business while indirectly challenging Ngannou to face him again.
Although Joshua and promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren were present during the altercation, the situation did not escalate.
Fury’s trainer, Joe, handed him a water bottle, mindful of Fury’s healing eye injury. Despite the intensity, both Fury and Ngannou remained resolute, earning mutual respect for their demeanor during the confrontation.
