The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) will kick off 2025 in sunny Florida. Ahead of the USMNT’s match against Jamaica on Monday night, U.S. Soccer announced that the team will face Venezuela on January 18 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM ET and will be broadcast on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max, and Peacock.
The January Camp, an annual event, falls outside of FIFA’s designated international windows. As a result, head coach Mauricio Pochettino is expected to focus primarily on evaluating younger Major League Soccer (MLS) players.
There’s also the potential for players from European clubs that observe a winter break to be included.
This camp marks the start of a pivotal year for the USMNT, which will compete in the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals and the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.
These tournaments will serve as critical preparation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States.
“We are looking forward to the camp in January and the opportunity to get to know many of the MLS players and see all the potential talent we have here in the United States,” said USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino in a statement.
“We are happy to bring the National Team back to South Florida and utilize the great facilities of Inter Miami for this important moment as we continue to build towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”
Historically, the USMNT holds a 3W-1L-2D record against Venezuela, also known as the Vinotintos.
The last meeting between the two teams took place in Cincinnati in June 2019, where Venezuela claimed a decisive 3-0 victory in a pre-Gold Cup tune-up match.
The USMNT will aim to turn the tables this time in Fort Lauderdale, a city where they boast an impressive 4W-0L-1D record since 1980.
