Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams is getting close to making his season debut after the international break.
The U.S. captain had back surgery in early July and is almost ready to play, according to Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola.
“Tyler will not be fit for the Leicester game but he’s almost there,” Iraola said. “He’s going to train fully with the team in the international break.”
The break comes after Saturday’s Premier League match against Leicester. Bournemouth, currently in the middle of the standings, will host Arsenal on October 19.
Adams missed most of last season due to a hamstring issue, and after a brief return, he finished his first season with Bournemouth due to back spasms.
The 25-year-old Adams played a full match for the U.S. in their 1-0 loss to Uruguay at the Copa America on July 1 but had back surgery shortly after that.
Adams was not named in U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the upcoming friendlies announced this week.
