Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has lauded several Manchester United players, including Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, and Casemiro, ahead of their upcoming encounter.

Villa is set to host United in the Premier League clash on Sunday, February 11, a fixture pivotal to the top-four race as Villa currently occupies the fourth spot with 46 points from 23 matches, while United trails behind in sixth place, eight points adrift.

In anticipation of the match, Emery highlighted the progress of Erik ten Hag’s team and singled out key players. Speaking at his pre-match press conference (as quoted by the Mirror), he remarked:

“We must assert ourselves against one of the Premier League’s top teams. They’ve made significant investments to elevate their performance through signings.

The coach is refining their structure, with players like Casemiro pivotal. Rasmus Hojlund is gaining confidence with his goal-scoring form, while Alejandro Garnacho is enjoying a good run of form, and Bruno Fernandes brings a fierce competitive spirit.”

Emery expressed his eagerness and determination to confront the challenges ahead, underlining the importance of connecting with the supporters for the upcoming test.

“I’m excited and motivated for everything we will face – that’s why I’m reaching out and trying to connect with our supporters – because we will need them.”

He also stressed the significance of the match, acknowledging Manchester United’s potential to climb higher in the league standings:

“Every match holds its own significance, with key moments unfolding within them. While the matches preceding and succeeding are crucial, we must approach this game as a six-pointer. Despite our position ahead of them, Manchester United remains strong contenders. Even in defeat, we’ll maintain our advantage over them – yet they’re currently in good form, exuding confidence.”

“It’s going to be a challenging encounter, with both sides eager to secure points. Manchester United will be determined to narrow the gap. Although there are 38 matches in total, this fixture carries particular weight – it’s a defining moment.”

Aston Villa will enter the match off the back of a disappointing 3-1 FA Cup fourth-round replay loss to Chelsea, whereas Manchester United secured a 3-0 victory over West Ham United in their last Premier League outing at Old Trafford.
