Anatoly Malykhin, a two-division world champion in ONE Championship, along with his coach, offered an update on his weight cut ahead of his upcoming world title fight.
Since his ONE Championship debut in March 2021 with an undefeated record of 8-0, Malykhin has asserted his dominance in the promotion. With five victories, all by way of KO/TKO, he has secured both the light heavyweight and heavyweight MMA titles.
Now, on March 1, Malykhin aims to etch his name in history books by pursuing a third divisional championship, a feat unprecedented in ONE Championship.
To accomplish this, he must defeat Reinier de Ridder in a rematch for the ONE middleweight MMA belt.
Before stepping into the cage for this pivotal showdown, Malykhin must navigate the challenge of cutting weight to compete at the middleweight limit. Fortunately, progress is on track, with Malykhin having just fifteen pounds left to shed with nearly a month remaining until the fight.
This week, Malykhin’s coach, John Hutchinson, took to Instagram to share a glimpse of their preparations, captioning an Instagram story with the words: “Unstoppable energy, @anmalykhin starts the middleweight takeover. Weight cut in progress.”
