Brett Howden scored at 2:15 of overtime, leading the Vegas Golden Knights to a 4-3 win against the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday night in Las Vegas, keeping their perfect home record.

Howden received a pass from Noah Hanifin at the left circle, faked out Alexander Kerfoot, then skated in front of the net and beat Connor Ingram with a backhand shot on his glove side for the game-winning goal.

Hanifin had a goal and two assists, while Howden contributed one goal and one assist. William Karlsson and Pavel Dorofeyev also scored for Vegas, which matched its franchise record with its eighth straight home win (8-0-0), tying the record set in the 2017-18 inaugural season.

Adin Hill made 16 saves for the Golden Knights, helping them break a tie for first place with the Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division.

Logan Cooley had a goal and an assist for Utah, Nick Bjugstad recorded two assists, and Ian Cole and Alexander Kerfoot also scored. This loss marked Utah’s fifth in the last six games, while Ingram made 31 saves.

Utah took a 1-0 lead at 11:52 in the first period when Cooley scored with a one-timer from the left circle after receiving a pass from Bjugstad.

The shot went into the top far corner, marking Cooley’s second goal of the season, and it came from just one of the three shots taken by the visitors in the first period.

Utah then made it 2-0 in the middle of the second period with Cole’s first goal. He fired a wrist shot from the left circle that went past Hill’s glove and deflected in off Vegas defenseman Nicolas Hague, who was battling with Dylan Guenther near the left post.

Dorofeyev pulled the score to 2-1 when he scored with a wrist shot after receiving a crossing pass from Tomas Hertl, putting the puck into the wide-open right side of the net. This was Dorofeyev’s seventh goal and his third in the last two games.

Hanifin tied the game at 2-2 with just one second left in the period by scoring off a rebound from a shot by Nicolas Roy, placing the puck inside the left post for his first goal.

Karlsson then gave Vegas its first lead at 5:37 in the third period. He finished an odd-man rush with a backhand shot from the right circle that went in between Ingram’s legs for his second goal.

Kerfoot brought the score back to 3-3 at 13:10 when he scored his second goal by tapping in a rebound from a shot by Bjugstad.
