The Minnesota Vikings found a costly but effective way to boost their presence at Sunday night’s crucial NFC North game against the Detroit Lions.
The team bought about 1,900 tickets near the visitor’s bench at Ford Field from the secondary market, with each ticket costing around $1,000, totaling nearly $2 million. The Vikings then offered these tickets to their stakeholders, including staff, family, season ticket holders, and team partners, at a price range of $200 to $300 per ticket.
In a statement, the Vikings explained, “Given the uniqueness of this game, we wanted to offer our stakeholders — staff, family, season ticket members, and team partners — an opportunity to attend.”
While this approach is uncommon, it is allowed under NFL rules. It underscores how important Sunday’s game is for both teams. The winner will secure the NFC North title and the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed, along with a first-round bye, while the loser will fall to the No. 5 seed and start the playoffs on the road in the wild-card round.
