Vitali Klitschko has delivered a blunt message to Tyson Fury regarding what it will take to overcome Oleksandr Usyk.
The showdown between WBC titleholder Fury and WBO, WBA (super), and IBF champion Usyk is scheduled for May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, following a postponement due to Fury’s training injury.
In response to the setback, Klitschko offered his candid advice to Fury on defeating the Ukrainian fighter during an interview with filmmaker Andrew Drury. The 52-year-old humorously emphasized the need for Fury to abstain from indulging in junk food, alcohol, and drugs, urging him to prioritize a rigorous training regimen.
Klitschko remarked, “Not so much junk food, no alcohol, no drugs, and good preparation for this fight.” Fury, known for his remarkable transformation from weight gain to becoming a world champion, now has the opportunity to solidify his undisputed status in the heavyweight division.
Klitschko, a former WBC world heavyweight titleholder, anticipated an enthralling battle between Fury and Usyk but refrained from predicting the outcome, recognizing the unpredictable nature of heavyweight clashes.
He remarked, “Everybody expects a very dramatic, interesting fight, but nobody in the world can predict the decision of this fight. It’s the heavyweight division; every punch makes a decision.”
While Klitschko expressed his personal hope for Usyk’s victory and the return of the WBC belt to Ukraine, he maintained an open-minded approach, acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding the highly anticipated bout.
As Fury prepares to face Usyk, his previous contentious victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in October adds intrigue to his upcoming challenge. Meanwhile, Usyk’s last fight was in August when he defeated Daniel Dubois.
