Stacy Wakefield, the beloved wife of the late major league pitcher Tim Wakefield, passed away from cancer nearly five months after his own demise, as announced by the family on Wednesday.

Stacy succumbed to pancreatic cancer after a courageous battle, mirroring Tim’s own struggle with brain cancer, which led to his passing on October 1 at the age of 57.

In a statement relayed by the Boston Red Sox, the family expressed their profound grief, saying, “The loss is unimaginable, especially in the wake of losing Tim just under five months ago. Our hearts are beyond broken.”

They reflected on the blessing of having Stacy in their lives and found solace in the belief that she and Tim, the love of her life, are now reunited.

Tim and Stacy tied the knot in 2002 and left behind their two children, Trevor and Brianna, born in 2004 and 2005, respectively.

Beyond Tim’s celebrated career on the baseball field, both he and Stacy were esteemed in Boston for their extensive community contributions.

Stacy stood by her husband, actively participating in various charitable endeavors, notably raising funds for organizations like the Red Sox Foundation and the Jimmy Fund, where they dedicated time to visiting patients and advocating for childhood cancer research.

The legacy of the Wakefields extends far beyond the realm of sports, leaving an indelible mark on their community through their compassion and commitment to making a difference.
