Monday night marked a big moment for Jayden Daniels. The rookie quarterback for the Commanders completed 21 of 23 passes for 254 yards and threw two touchdowns, also scoring one himself in a 38-33 win against the Bengals.
His standout moment came in the fourth quarter on a crucial fourth down. The Commanders relied on Daniels to connect with tight end Zach Ertz to keep the drive going, and he succeeded, leading to a touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin that secured the victory.
After the game, Daniels was asked if he was surprised by his quick success in the NFL.
“Yes and no,” Daniels replied in his postgame talk. “Yes, because it’s something new for me as I continue this journey in my rookie year.
But also, I put in the work, and what’s done in the dark will always come to light. I just know I’m prepared for these moments week in and week out. Just got to go out there and play football and execute.”
The Commanders have struggled for years, but in just three games, Daniels has given fans real hope for the future. This win makes them believe that brighter days could be ahead soon.
