Week 4 of the NFL season wrapped up with a Monday night double-header featuring two games with very different dynamics. One game highlighted a clash between high-performing teams, while the other involved teams looking for their first big win of the season. Sunday’s action was filled with close finishes and standout individual performances, but Monday’s matchups, while less dramatic, were marked by impressive feats and historical achievements.

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a record-setting performance in his team’s 42-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Goff completed all 18 of his passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns, making NFL history as the first quarterback to attempt more than 10 passes in a game without an incompletion. This included a 70-yard touchdown to Jameson Williams. Goff was unaware of his perfect accuracy during the game and humbly downplayed the significance, focusing instead on his team’s win.

The Lions also leaned on some creativity, with Goff catching his first-ever touchdown pass on a trick play from Amon-Ra St. Brown. Lions head coach Dan Campbell admitted that he had not realized Goff’s perfect stat line until after the game, despite being impressed by his quarterback’s poise and rhythm. Detroit’s overall team effort, including strong defensive play from Aidan Hutchinson, helped them hold off the Seahawks, who dropped to a 3-1 record.

Seattle quarterback Geno Smith put up a fight, completing 38 of 56 passes for 395 yards and a touchdown, along with one interception. Kenneth Walker III contributed three rushing touchdowns, but the Seahawks could not overcome Detroit’s early lead. Despite the loss, Smith and Walker kept Seattle competitive throughout. Head coach Mike Macdonald acknowledged the team’s shortcomings and stressed the importance of growth as they prepare for their next game.

The Tennessee Titans, meanwhile, secured their first win of the season with a 31-12 victory over the Miami Dolphins. However, it came at a cost, as starting quarterback Will Levis left the game early with a shoulder injury. Despite Levis’ departure, backup quarterback Mason Rudolph stepped in, guiding the Titans to seven scoring drives. Titans head coach Bill Callahan stated after the game that Levis would return as the starter once healthy.

The Titans relied heavily on their running game, with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears combining for 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Kicker Nick Folk also played a key role, converting all five field goals and both extra points. While Levis continued his streak of turnovers before his injury, Callahan remained confident in his young quarterback’s future. The win marked a much-needed turnaround for Tennessee as they look to build on this momentum.

For the Miami Dolphins, it was another tough game, as backup quarterback Tyler Huntley struggled to fill the void left by the injured Tua Tagovailoa. Huntley threw for just 96 yards, though he did rush for the Dolphins’ only touchdown. Miami made unwanted history as the first team since the 2017 Cleveland Browns to go through the first four games of a season without holding a lead, highlighting their struggles so far.
