With the NHL trade deadline on March 7 fast approaching, teams are starting to gear up for potential moves. Some teams are in a position where adding players could help them push for the playoffs and beyond.
Here are four teams in prime positions to make moves before the deadline:
Boston Bruins (Boston, MA)
Despite showing some positive moments, the Bruins aren’t a lock for the playoffs this year. With $5.7 million in cap space, GM Don Sweeney could make moves to strengthen both the defense and offense, which are currently underperforming. The Bruins will need to make improvements to stay competitive and secure a playoff spot.
Dallas Stars (Dallas, TX)
The Stars have been strong recently but face tough competition in the Central Division. With only $2.6 million in cap space, GM Jim Nill is known for working trade magic. If Tyler Seguin’s return is uncertain, the Stars could free up cap space and go after a bottom-six forward or another impact player to deepen their playoff push.
Los Angeles Kings (Los Angeles, CA)
