There will be more defensive end Will Anderson on the Texans’ defense this season. Anderson won’t necessarily be playing more snaps, but he will be occupying more space on the field.
During a press conference at Texans training camp on Thursday, Anderson explained that late last season he found himself unable to hold his ground as well as he wanted.
To address this, he focused on increasing his size before his second NFL season.
“Last year I was around 248 pounds, and by the time we reached the Ravens game, I felt like I was getting pushed around,” Anderson said. “So, I put on some weight this off-season.
I aimed to maintain my speed, which I did. Now I’m around 263 pounds, and I feel good. Some people still have doubts about me, and I appreciate that.”
Anderson was effective at a lower weight, so the Texans hope his larger impact on games will continue to grow in 2024.
