Anthony Joshua looks on a press conference

Daniel Dubois’ trainer expects to be in his corner for the IBF heavyweight title fight against Anthony Joshua on Saturday, even though he has been bedridden with illness this week.

Speaking just hours before the weigh-in on Friday, Don Charles told British radio station talkSPORT that he has been keeping his distance from Dubois while dealing with what he called a “very bad head cold.”

“The most sensible thing to do was not to go anywhere near my fighter because can you imagine if I gave this to him? Then there will be no fight,” Charles said, also addressing rumors that he had been fired by Dubois.

“No, there has not been any fall-out. I hate to disappoint (people). We’re very, together (as a) team.”

Charles stated that the plan was “100%” to be at Wembley Stadium for Dubois’ first defense of his IBF title, which he won after Oleksandr Usyk vacated it.

Joshua is looking to become a world heavyweight champion for the third time.
