Noah Fant’s time with the Seattle Seahawks has come to an end, as the team announced his release on Sunday. The move was primarily financial, freeing up \$8.91 million in salary cap space. Fant was due a non-guaranteed $8.49 million this season, and releasing him provides the Seahawks with greater flexibility for other roster needs.
Fant joined the Seahawks in 2022 as part of the trade that sent quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. Over three seasons in Seattle, he played in 48 games and started 42, recording 130 receptions for 1,400 yards and five touchdowns. While reliable, his numbers didn’t reflect a standout performance compared to the expectations often placed on a former first-round pick.

Seahawks Turn to Youth at Tight End After Fant’s Unfulfilled Potential in Seattle
Originally drafted 20th overall by the Broncos in 2019, Fant had a strong start to his NFL career. In his three seasons in Denver, he tallied 170 catches for 1,905 yards and 10 touchdowns. His athleticism and receiving skills were seen as a key asset early on, but his transition to the Seahawks’ system didn’t fully unlock his potential.
With Fant gone, the Seahawks’ tight end room will now rely on a mix of young and unproven players. AJ Barner, entering his second year, along with rookie Elijah Arroyo and veteran Eric Saubert, are expected to compete for larger roles. Undrafted rookies Marshall Lang and Nick Kallerup also remain on the roster, giving the team several developmental options as they reshape the position.
