Yordan Alvarez has a sprained right knee and won’t play in Houston’s series against Seattle, which lasts until Wednesday.

Alvarez got hurt while sliding into second base on a double during the third inning of Sunday’s game against the Angels, causing him to leave the game.

Manager Joe Espada mentioned that Alvarez had X-rays after the game on Sunday and an MRI on Monday. After Houston’s 6-1 loss to Seattle on Monday night, he said that Alvarez sprained his knee and wouldn’t be able to play in the next two games.

Espada also said he spoke with Alvarez on Monday morning and that he felt “pretty sore” when he woke up.

Alvarez is leading the Astros with a .308 batting average, 35 home runs, and 86 RBIs.

Jason Heyward took Alvarez’s place in left field for Houston on Monday.
