Zach Collins, who plays as a center for the San Antonio Spurs, has torn his labrum and needs surgery. However, he is expected to recover in time for the next season.
He got injured during the Spurs’ last game against Detroit. The team confirmed the labrum tear after an MRI on Thursday.
Collins had a good run this season, playing in 69 games, which is the second-highest in his six-year career. He averaged 11.2 points and 5.4 rebounds. Unfortunately, the Spurs didn’t perform well, finishing with a record of 22-60 for the second year in a row.
Collins often shared the court with rookie standout Victor Wembanyama. He joined the Spurs as a free agent back in 2021.
The 26-year-old player has an average of 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds throughout his career. He was selected as the 10th pick in the 2017 draft from Gonzaga University and was initially with the Portland Trail Blazers before joining the Spurs.
Collins had missed the previous season due to an ankle injury.
