Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has no intention of changing his playing style despite incurring six penalties in five games during the 2023 NFL season. Metcalf’s approach has drawn concerns from some, as his penalties have contributed to the Seahawks’ high number of penalties as a team. However, the 25-year-old remains steadfast in his commitment to playing the game his way.

“I’m not gonna change the way I play,” Metcalf stated in response to questions about his penalties. He highlighted the variety of penalties he has received, including taunting, unnecessary roughness, facemask, holding, and an illegal blindside block. He believes that he’s doing well and refuses to change who he is as a player or as a person.

When asked about instances where his emotions got the better of him on the field, Metcalf framed it as part of the game, comparing it to having a bad day at work occasionally. He stressed that perfection is an unreasonable goal and that he’s a competitive person who will continue to be himself.

So far this season, Metcalf has recorded 22 receptions for 337 yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks are next set to face the Arizona Cardinals, who have a 1-5 record.
