Barcelona president Joan Laporta remains optimistic about his team’s chances of securing the signing of teenage sensation Lucas Bergvall, despite Tottenham Hotspur reportedly reaching an agreement with the young Swedish midfielder. While Tottenham secured a deal with Bergvall, valued at over €10 million, Barcelona’s pursuit of the 18-year-old remains ongoing.
Although Tottenham offered a more lucrative financial package, Laporta is confident that Barcelona can still land Bergvall, even with a lesser offer. He stated in an interview with RAC1:
“He’s a great player, whom Deco has followed for a long time. As far as I know, he hasn’t signed anything with anyone yet. We made an offer, we had everything agreed with him and the club.
Tottenham have made him an offer with much more money. We propose to play in the reserve team, working with the dynamics of the first team, but we are not going to match Tottenham’s financial offer.”
Bergvall is expected to undergo a medical examination on Friday before finalizing the deal with Tottenham Hotspur.
