Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson has criticized the club’s transfer strategy, pointing out the downward spiral since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013. He believes that poor transfers have been a significant factor in the club’s decline.

Anderson, who made 181 appearances for Manchester United between 2007 and 2015, expressed frustration with the club’s tendency to spend large sums on the wrong players. He emphasized that such decisions have been detrimental to the club’s success.

In an interview with Globo Esporte, the four-time Premier League winner stated:

“Manchester United sometimes make very poor acquisitions. If you’re going to invest €100m in a player, go for someone like Neymar, who can truly make a difference. Instead, Manchester United spend €70m, €80m, €90m on players who lack logic. It seems the club’s desperation is so high that they’ll settle for anyone.”

Since 2013, Manchester United has splurged over £1.5 billion on transfers, but many of their marquee signings have failed to justify their hefty price tags. Players like Angel Di Maria, Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Harry Maguire, Romelu Lukaku, and Fred have struggled to meet expectations at Old Trafford.
