In a recent episode of his Foley Is Pod podcast, Mick Foley addressed the allegations against his former boss, Vince McMahon, made by former WWE employee Janel Grant. Grant, who worked for WWE between 2019 and 2022, accused McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking during her tenure.
McMahon denied the allegations before resigning as a board member of WWE’s parent company, TKO, “out of respect.”
Foley drew parallels between the McMahon lawsuit and the tragic events surrounding Chris Benoit in 2007, when the former WWE wrestler murdered his wife and son before taking his own life.
Reflecting on the situation, Foley expressed his shock and discomfort, likening it to the feelings he experienced during the aftermath of the Benoit tragedy.
“Anyone who’s listened to a single episode knows the great fondness I have for Mr. McMahon,” Foley stated. “I don’t know all the facts but, man, it’s hideous. I feel some very similar [feelings], just like that dead inside feeling the way I had in 2007 after the Benoit murders.”
Foley, a top star in WWE during the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
