Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has offered an encouraging update regarding striker Erling Haaland ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Brentford on Monday (February 5).
The Cityzens are currently in impressive form, having extended their winning streak across various competitions to eight games and remaining unbeaten in 11 matches since their 1-0 league defeat against Aston Villa in December.
Interestingly, Guardiola’s team has coped well without Haaland, who has missed 10 games across competitions due to a stress foot fracture suffered after the Villa match.
Haaland made his return from almost two months out in the midweek 3-1 victory over Burnley and is expected to feature from the start against Brentford. Guardiola expressed confidence in Haaland’s fitness and highlighted the squad’s overall health (as reported by Sportsmole):
“Yes, he (Haaland) is ready. Everybody is fit… I don’t know if you saw the Burnley game, but (Haaland) played 30 minutes, and in every transition and every pass, all the players looked for him, so they know how important he is.
We try to keep all of the strikers happy, especially him. It depends on how we play. If we are comfortable, he will get a lot of balls, and after that, he will do the rest.”
Manchester City currently sits second in the league table, trailing leader Liverpool (51 points) by five points but with a game in hand.
