WWE appears to be taking steps to manage the negative fan response towards The Rock.

Fans have been vocal about their disinterest in seeing The Great One headline WrestleMania 40, expressing a strong preference for Cody Rhodes to conclude his storyline by defeating Roman Reigns at the prestigious event.

During NXT Vengeance Day, the audience reacted with boos whenever The Rock appeared on WrestleMania promotional materials. Corey Brennan provided insight into the situation, noting efforts by production to mitigate the crowd’s response.

Cody Rhodes

In response to the controversy surrounding his SmackDown appearance, The Brahma Bull posted several messages on Instagram, which received predominantly negative feedback from fans. He acknowledged the backlash in one post, stating, “ps, tough skin, love the passion.”

For nearly two years, fans have eagerly anticipated Cody Rhodes’ conclusion of his storyline with Roman Reigns. Despite Rhodes’s loss to Reigns at last year’s WrestleMania, WWE has been building towards a rematch at WrestleMania 40.
