WWE NXT Vengeance Day concluded with a shocking turn of events as Carmelo Hayes betrayed Trick Williams, attacking him after his grueling match against Ilja Dragunov. The former NXT Champion offered a succinct response to his actions at the recent event.
Williams and Hayes had been allies for nearly three years, joining forces in 2021 when Trick Williams intervened during Duke Hudson’s match against Hayes. The duo, known as the Trick and Melo Gang, also teamed up at Vengeance Day, facing Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin in the Dusty Cup finals.
Despite their loss in the match, there was little time for lamentation as Williams prepared to challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship in the main event.
However, Williams faced a string of setbacks that night, culminating in Melo’s interference costing him the biggest match of his career. Hayes then further betrayed his former best friend by assaulting him with multiple chair shots after the match.
In a backstage interview, the former NXT Champion offered a brief response to the betrayal. When questioned about his actions, Melo simply replied, “Whooped.”
