UFC Vegas 86, slated for this weekend at the Apex in Las Vegas, will be a closed-door affair, as confirmed by Dana White. The notable presence of Elon Musk, who will be attending Saturday night’s card, has led to the decision to close off the event to the public.
This comes amidst a flurry of celebrities descending upon Vegas for the Super Bowl weekend, with the big game scheduled for Sunday.
White expressed his excitement about hosting the event in their hometown, particularly during such a high-profile weekend. He emphasized the significance of having events like “Slap Friday,” UFC Saturday, and the Super Bowl in quick succession.
Regarding Musk’s attendance, White remarked, “The people in town going to these events are, I mean, Elon Musk is coming to the fight on Saturday, you know what I mean?”
The closure of UFC Vegas 86 to the public means that tickets to the UFC Apex cannot be purchased. Furthermore, media access to the event has been restricted, with White orchestrating the shutdown to accommodate Musk’s presence.
This isn’t the first time such exclusivity has been witnessed at the Apex. Last year, a similar scenario unfolded when Mark Zuckerberg attended a UFC event, resulting in its closure to both the public and media.
The relationship between Elon Musk and Dana White is well-documented, with White previously attempting to organize a fight between Musk and Zuckerberg. Despite efforts, the proposed matchup never came to fruition.
