Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has expressed concerns over the availability of star midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai for the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Chelsea. Additionally, Klopp provided updates on Thiago Alcantara’s injury setback.
Szoboszlai recently returned from a hamstring injury, featuring in Liverpool’s 4-1 win against Chelsea, where he also scored a goal. However, he was absent from the squad that faced Arsenal, with reports confirming a recurrence of his hamstring issue.
Klopp admitted uncertainty regarding Szoboszlai’s recovery timeline, casting doubt on his participation in the final.
Klopp stated, “Like with all these tendon things, pretty quickly the player is pain-free and then it’s all about the muscle. It’s pretty much the same injury as he had before; obviously, it’s not good that he got that again.”
Regarding Thiago’s injury setback, Klopp expressed hope for his return before the season concludes. Thiago recently made a comeback against Arsenal after a lengthy absence due to a hip injury but has since suffered a muscle injury.
“It’s a muscle issue, we don’t know the extent yet. We have to wait there a little bit, but it’s not cool, of course,” Klopp remarked.
Szoboszlai has been an impactful addition to Liverpool’s squad since his summer arrival from RB Leipzig, amassing five goals and four assists in 28 appearances. Meanwhile, Thiago’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire this summer.
