Triple H has finally addressed Cody Rhodes’ memorable act of smashing a throne at AEW Double Or Nothing 2019, shedding light on the significance behind the gesture.
At AEW’s inaugural event, Double Or Nothing 2019, Cody faced off against his brother Dustin Rhodes. During the match, Cody symbolically destroyed a throne using a sledgehammer, a clear reference to Triple H’s past grand entrances where thrones were prominently featured.
During a recent appearance on Allan & Carly alongside Rhea Ripley to discuss Elimination Chamber 2024, Triple H was questioned about Cody Rhodes’ gesture from 2019. He responded with amusement, stating:
“I found it amusing at the time. Sometimes people read too much into these things. If I were in his position, I might have done the same.
What I admire about Cody is his journey in this industry. I’ve seen him evolve from a young wrestler, and I say ‘young’ not in a derogatory sense but literally.
His father, Dusty, was a mentor to me. We embarked on the NXT journey together, and he played a significant role in its development. Learning from Dusty was invaluable. Witnessing Cody emerge from his father’s shadow and carve his path in the industry was monumental. He took a gamble on himself and ventured out to discover his identity, and that’s something I respect.”
Triple H continued:
“It’s been incredible to see Cody’s growth and transformation, both personally and professionally. He’s certainly come a long way since his early days in the business.”
