Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has raised the possibility of Everton suing Manchester City for Premier League points amid City’s ongoing battle with Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges.
Wyness, who served at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, criticized the Premier League’s handling of the situation, highlighting the delay in addressing City’s case.
The Premier League charged Manchester City with 115 financial breaches spanning nine seasons, yet the case has not been heard by an independent commission, with a verdict not expected for at least another 12 months.
In contrast, Everton has already faced consequences, receiving a 10-point deduction for breaching the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules. Wyness expressed confusion over the delay in resolving City’s case and questioned whether Everton could reclaim points if City is found guilty and Everton is proven innocent of similar charges.
He criticized the Premier League’s handling of the situation, describing it as a “stupid merry-go-round” that could lead to a “ridiculous situation.”
