Liverpool is reportedly set for another attempt to bring Michael Edwards back to the club to steer the new era post-Klopp era.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, FSG, the club’s owners, are keen on having Edwards return as the new sporting director to implement a fresh structure following Jürgen Klopp’s exit.

Despite Edwards previously declining the offer shortly after Klopp’s announcement, Liverpool is making another bid. They are seeking a prompt response as they aim to progress with their plans in March.

The Reds are eager to establish a new framework before appointing a new manager, considering the significant exits, including Klopp’s coaching staff and the impending departure of current sporting director Jorg Schmadtke at the season’s end.

Last year, Schmadtke replaced Julian Ward, who had succeeded Edwards in the role. Edwards, renowned for his pivotal role in Liverpool’s recruitment strategy, orchestrated several high-profile signings during his tenure, including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson.

Edwards’ astute recruitment significantly contributed to Liverpool’s resurgence as a dominant force in European football, culminating in triumphs in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup during his tenure at Anfield.
