The Jacksonville Jaguars are making significant moves in the offseason, bolstering their roster with key acquisitions across various positions.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the Jaguars have secured wide receiver Gabe Davis on a lucrative three-year contract worth $39 million, which includes an $11 million signing bonus. This move underscores the team’s commitment to enhancing their offensive capabilities.

In addition to Davis, the Jaguars have also inked deals with two other notable players. Safety Darnell Savage, formerly with the Green Bay Packers, has agreed to a three-year contract, while kick return specialist Devin Duvernay, previously of the Baltimore Ravens, has signed a two-year deal.

These agreements, confirmed by ESPN sources, mark a strategic effort by the Jaguars to fortify their defense and special teams units.

However, the Jaguars encountered a setback in their pursuit of kicker Wil Lutz, whom they initially agreed to sign on a three-year deal. Subsequently, Lutz had a change of heart and opted to re-sign with the Denver Broncos instead.

Gabe Davis, who served as a team captain for the first time in 2023, showcased his potential during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills. Despite sporadic production, Davis emerged as a reliable target in critical moments, demonstrating prowess as a run-blocking receiver.

In the 2023 season, he amassed 746 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, reaffirming his value as a dynamic offensive threat. Notably, Davis’ standout performance came in the 2021 postseason, where he tallied an impressive 201 receiving yards and four touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Darnell Savage, a cornerstone of the Packers’ defense, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Jaguars. Despite grappling with injuries during the previous season, Savage showcased his playmaking abilities with a pivotal interception return for a touchdown in the playoffs.

With 69 regular-season starts under his belt since entering the league in 2019, Savage is poised to make a significant impact on Jacksonville’s defense.

Meanwhile, Devin Duvernay’s prowess as a return specialist adds versatility to the Jaguars’ special teams unit. Over his four-year stint with the Ravens, Duvernay proved to be a dynamic threat in both punt and kickoff returns, averaging 12.6 and 19.3 yards, respectively, in the 2023 season. His contributions extend beyond special teams, with 27 receptions for 898 yards and five touchdowns in his career.

The Jaguars’ recent acquisitions signify a strategic approach to strengthening their roster ahead of the upcoming season. With a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talents, Jacksonville aims to compete at the highest level in the NFL.
