Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Manchester United’s strategy regarding Mason Greenwood ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Greenwood embarked on a loan spell with Getafe from Manchester United last summer, garnering attention for his performances in Spain.

With eight goals in 26 appearances across all competitions this season, Greenwood has been making waves.

His standout display against Atlético Madrid caught the eye of Antoine Griezmann, who publicly praised the young talent. Although there were talks of a potential move to Barcelona, Romano reveals that the Catalan club is currently not pursuing a deal.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is open to the possibility of selling Greenwood and is actively seeking a resolution in the upcoming transfer window. Barcelona has shifted its focus to other targets, with a Liverpool star now on their radar.

Despite speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford, Greenwood could still have a future with Manchester United following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent acquisition of a 25% stake in the club.

Ratcliffe emphasized that a decision regarding the 22-year-old’s future will be made at the end of the season. “We will make a decision, correct,” he affirmed. “All I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach decisions like that.”

“As he is a Manchester United player, we are responsible for football decisions. So, yes, we have to make decisions. It’s quite clear we have to make a decision.”

While Greenwood is currently on loan, Ratcliffe noted that he’s not the only player under consideration. “We’ve got one or two footballers that we have to deal with, and we have to decide on, so we will do that.”

Ratcliffe stressed the importance of assessing the facts objectively and making decisions based on values. “The process will be: understand the facts, not the hype, and then try and come to a fair decision based on values,” he explained. “Is he a good guy? Could he genuinely play for Manchester United well? Would we be comfortable with it, and would the fans be comfortable with it?”
