Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly is expanding his horizons into the world of soccer, albeit not as a player but as an investor in Versailles, a club hailing from the Parisian suburbs and competing in the French third division.
“I’m thrilled to be joining FC Versailles as I’ve always had a passion for professional football,” stated Gasly, who currently races for Alpine. “This marks the beginning of an exciting journey. Let’s go, Versailles!”
Gasly will become a joint shareholder of the club, partnering with Alexandre Mulliez — the grandson of Auchan multinational retail group’s founder — and his associate Fabien Lazare.
While the exact percentage of Gasly’s shareholding remains undisclosed, Mulliez, who assumed control of the financially struggling club last year, expressed optimism about their collaboration.
“I am confident that our partnership will yield positive results,” Mulliez remarked. “Being a devoted Formula 1 enthusiast, I recognize the value of having Pierre by our side to help us realize our ambitions.”
