Eduardo Rodríguez will have to wait before he can start playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks’ manager, Torey Lovullo, told reporters on Friday that Rodríguez has a lat strain. This means the left-handed pitcher will start the season on the injured list.
“He won’t be able to throw until he feels better,” Lovullo said. “I understand you all have questions about how long it will take, but we don’t have that information yet.
It will depend on how he progresses and feels each day. We’ll monitor it closely and go from there.”
Rodríguez, who will be 31 years old on April 7, joined the team with a four-year contract worth $80 million after a successful season with the Detroit Tigers, where he went 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA.
