Rafael Devers’ mistake at third base allowed the Angels to score two runs in the sixth inning, leading to Los Angeles ending the Boston Red Sox’s five-game winning streak with a 2-1 win on Saturday night.

Reid Detmers, who had 12 strikeouts, pitched impressively for six innings for the Angels. Four pitchers from Los Angeles combined to allow only three hits to Boston’s hitters, with Carlos Estévez securing his third save in the ninth inning.

Jarren Duran’s single brought in an early run for Boston, but they couldn’t manage any hits after the fourth inning. The Red Sox, now 6-3 on their West Coast trip, suffered due to defensive errors in the sixth inning.

Devers made a crucial error on Anthony Rendon’s ground ball, allowing two runs to score for the Angels. Despite the mistake, Boston’s manager, Alex Cora, stood by Devers, emphasizing his solid performance for the team.
