Kylian Mbappé came off the bench and helped secure a late equalizer as the top-ranked team in the French league, Paris Saint-Germain, and the last-place Clermont ended with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Mbappé received a pass from striker Gonçalo Ramos and skillfully returned it as Ramos moved into the penalty area in the 85th minute.
PSG is comfortably ahead by 13 points from the second-placed Brest, who plays against relegation struggler Metz on Sunday. It appears highly likely that PSG will secure its 12th league title with just six rounds and 18 points left to play after this weekend.
PSG is set to play against Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal at Parc des Princes on Wednesday. Coach Luis Enrique left out Mbappé, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, and other key players. Mbappé joined the game against Clermont in the middle of the second half.
Enrique has been rotating Mbappé in recent games, even substituting him midway through the second half against rival team Marseille last Sunday.
Midfielder Senny Mayulu and defender Yoram Zague, both aged 17, started their first games for PSG.
However, PSG conceded a sloppy goal in the 32nd minute when central defender Milan Skriniar failed to handle a cross. The ball was quickly passed back into the penalty area, where Clermont defender Habib Keita scored with a scruffy shot that rolled past goalkeeper Arnau Tenas.
Mayulu scored with a brilliant shot just before halftime, but the goal was disallowed after a clear foul by Zague moments earlier was spotted on video.
Right-back Achraf Hakimi hit the crossbar in the 63rd minute, prompting Enrique to send on Mbappé shortly after.
