Seattle extended their lead to three goals early in the second half when Jordan Morris scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Cristian Roldan.
Montreal’s task became harder when Nathan Saliba received a red card in the 53rd minute, leaving them with 10 men for the rest of the game.
Alex Roldan and Dylan Teves added to Seattle’s lead, with Roldan scoring in the 81st minute and Teves finding the net in stoppage time.
Stefan Frei made two saves to secure his first clean sheet of the season for the Sounders, while Jonathan Sirois saved six shots for Montreal.
