The Miami Marlins broke their record of nine consecutive losses at the start of the season by defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 10-3 on Sunday. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Nick Gordon hit three-run homers in the first inning, contributing to a six-run start.

Marlins manager Skip Schumaker expressed his happiness for the team, mentioning how relieving it was for them to finally win after a challenging period. Schumaker refrained from commenting on reports about adjustments to his contract made during the offseason.

Miami’s win ended their streak of losses, avoiding the fate of being the first team to start 0-10 since the 2002 Chicago White Sox.

Max Meyer, a young pitcher, earned his first major league win in his fourth start, pitching impressively for six innings.

Meyer, who underwent Tommy John surgery in 2022, expressed his satisfaction with the win, highlighting his desire to contribute more to the team in future games.

Despite Meyer’s strong performance, the Cardinals’ Nolan Gorman managed to hit two home runs, demonstrating his improving form after a tough start. St. Louis pitcher Kyle Gibson endured a challenging home debut, conceding seven runs in six innings.
