Ryan McMahon made up for a costly mistake by getting three hits, while Charlie Blackmon hit a home run and a triple. The Colorado Rockies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5 on Monday night, preventing Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo from securing his 500th career win.

Arizona has lost five consecutive games since Lovullo achieved his 499th win on April 2 against the New York Yankees. Lovullo, who is in his eighth season, is the longest-serving manager in Diamondbacks history.

Lovullo expressed pride in his team’s effort despite the challenges they’ve faced. He remains optimistic that their fortunes will change soon, emphasizing the team’s resilience.

Colorado’s starting pitcher, Kyle Freeland, pitched through five innings, while Peter Lambert pitched two innings of relief to earn the win. Jake Bird secured his first save by retiring Eugenio Suarez with a bases-loaded fly to deep right, despite the Diamondbacks scoring a run against Nick Mears.

Blackmon started the game with a triple and scored on Ezequiel Tovar’s RBI single, giving Colorado an early 1-0 lead. This marked the first time in 17 games that the Rockies scored first.

In the fourth inning, the Diamondbacks scored four runs, two of which were a result of an error by McMahon at third base. However, Freeland managed to end the inning without further damage.

McMahon redeemed himself by starting the bottom of the inning with a single, contributing to a rally that brought the Rockies within one run. In the sixth inning, Colorado capitalized on reliever Scott McGough’s pitching, tying the game with a sacrifice fly from Montero and taking the lead with a walk and a single.

Blackmon’s home run in the eighth inning extended the Rockies’ lead, securing the victory.
