Pierre-Luc Dubois and Matt Roy broke their long streaks without scoring goals, helping the Los Angeles Kings secure a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night. This win keeps them in third place in the Pacific Division.
Kevin Fiala also contributed with a goal for the Kings, who have now won five of their last six games. David Rittich made 28 saves in goal for Los Angeles. With two games left in the regular season, the Kings hold a three-point lead over Vegas. Both teams have secured playoff spots, but their seeding is still undecided.
The Kings have been dominant at home, extending their winning streak to eight games, their longest since the 2010-11 season.
Under interim coach Jim Hiller, they boast a strong record of 13-2-1 at home since February 2nd, which is the second-best in the league since the all-star break.
Dubois, who hadn’t scored in 14 games, opened the scoring early in the second period with a power-play goal. Roy doubled the lead with a wrist shot from the blue line, ending his 10-game goal drought. Despite a late goal from Trevor Zegras for the Ducks, Fiala sealed the win for the Kings with a wraparound goal in the closing minutes of the game.
