Starling Marte hit a crucial three-run homer in the sixth inning, putting the New York Mets in the lead, while first baseman Pete Alonso made an impressive play to stop the Dodgers’ rally in the same inning. This helped the Mets secure a 6-4 victory over the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers, extending their winning streak to six games.

Despite a rocky start to the season where they lost their first five games, the Mets have turned things around, winning their fifth consecutive series. They’ve been on fire lately, winning 12 out of their last 15 games.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are having trouble finding their rhythm at the plate.

They’ve lost seven of their last nine games and struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities in this match, going just 2 for 12 with runners in scoring position and leaving 13 runners on base.

This marks the first time since June that they’ve lost three consecutive series, and the first time since August 2018 that they’ve lost three straight series at home.

Despite issuing 10 walks, the most they’ve given up since August 15, the Mets managed to secure the win. Reed Garrett, who secured his first big league save after previously earning 39 saves in the minors and two in Japan, struck out the side to close out the game, sealing the victory for the Mets.
