Jairzinho Rozenstruik, known as “Bigi Boi,” recently secured a fourth-round TKO victory over Shamil Gaziev in the main event of UFC Vegas 87, despite being the underdog.
Rozenstruik attributed his success to a well-executed game plan focused on exploiting Gaziev’s diminishing stamina and will to fight, ultimately leading to Gaziev’s inability to continue into the fifth round. This win marks a significant step for Rozenstruik, who aims to return to his previous form that positioned him as a contender for the UFC title.
After experiencing a series of losses, Rozenstruik recognized the need to reconnect with his roots in Suriname, which he identifies as his true source of strength.
Despite training at American Top Team in Florida, Rozenstruik plans to return to Suriname to rejuvenate and realign with his cultural and spiritual heritage. He emphasizes the importance of grounding himself in nature, particularly through rituals like laying in the river, to regain his focus and energy.
Despite recent setbacks, Rozenstruik’s career highlights include headlining six UFC cards in the past five years, a feat achieved by few other fighters. He takes pride in his ability to deliver main event-caliber performances and acknowledges the UFC’s recognition of his potential as a headliner.
Looking ahead, Rozenstruik is open to facing opponents ranked above him, such as Serghei Spivac, Tom Aspinall, Tai Tuivasa, and Derrick Lewis, as he continues his journey toward a title shot.
