Aaron Judge hit another big home run at Petco Park, and Marcus Stroman pitched well for six innings to keep the Yankees’ good pitching streak going. The Yankees won their second game in a row against the San Diego Padres, 4-1, on Saturday night.
Judge’s home run was a two-run shot off Dylan Cease in the first inning. It traveled 429 feet into the second deck in left-center field. This was the Yankees’ fifth home run in the series, totaling 2,089 feet.
Judge has now hit home runs in four consecutive games and has a total of 17 this season, tying him with Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson and Houston’s Kyle Tucker for the most in the major leagues. Anthony Volpe was on base with a leadoff single when Judge hit the home run.
Manager Aaron Boone praised Judge’s performance, saying, “That ball was absolutely hammered. What Aaron’s doing is what the greats do from time to time.”
Judge also commented on the team’s performance, highlighting the impressive hitting and pitching. He emphasized his role in getting on base for his teammates and driving in runs.
Marcus Stroman, when asked about Judge, expressed admiration, saying, “It’s watching greatness, you know. Sometimes you can kind of take it for granted, to be honest.
But this is something I’ll be sitting with my grandkids at some point, saying I got the opportunity to play with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto and Gerrit Cole, because those are going to be three of the best players, I think, to ever play this game.”
