LeBron James and Stephen Curry, two of the NBA’s top players, have set aside their past competition to team up for the Paris Olympics men’s national team.
While they have shared the court in All-Star games, their history includes intense rivalry, especially during their NBA Finals matchups from 2015 to 2018. Despite their on-court battles, they have always held a deep respect for each other.
In a recent interview with The Athletic, Curry described their relationship as a “healthy rivalry,” fueled by their determination to surpass each other’s impressive skills.
LeBron James echoed this sentiment, acknowledging that typical NBA rivalries often involve hostility, but he emphasized their mutual respect and admiration.
“It’s like a respectful rivalry where we’re pushing each other,” Curry explained.
LeBron James added to this by highlighting examples from past eras where rival players maintained respect off the court despite fierce competition.
“They say Michael Jordan never talked to his opponents, but I also know he and Charles Barkley had conversations during the ’93 finals and played golf together,” James noted.
