Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has assured fans that injured wide receiver Puka Nacua will not be sidelined for the team’s season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on September 8. McVay emphasized that Nacua’s knee injury is “week to week” but should not affect his preparation for the first game of the regular season.

According to ESPN’s Sarah Barshop, McVay downplayed the seriousness of the injury, describing it as a burst bursa sac with no structural damage.

McVay detailed that the injury occurred during practice when Nacua’s knee was impacted on a touchdown catch. Despite this setback, McVay is confident that Nacua will recover in time and that there is no concern regarding his participation in the opener against Detroit. The coach’s optimistic outlook is reassuring for the Rams, as they are eager to have Nacua fully healthy for the start of the season.

Nacua’s availability is particularly important for the Rams, given his impressive performance during his rookie season. His contribution was a key factor in the team’s return to playoff contention, having started all 17 games and accumulating 1,486 receiving yards along with six touchdowns. His presence on the field will be vital as the Rams look to build on their recent success.

However, the Rams are facing challenges with other injuries affecting their roster. Defensive tackle Braden Fiske, right tackle Rob Havenstein, left tackle Alaric Jackson, left guard Jonah Jackson, and cornerback Darious Williams are currently sidelined. Additionally, cornerback Derion Kendrick has been ruled out for the season due to a torn ACL, further straining the team’s depth.

McVay and the Rams are hopeful for a swift recovery for Nacua, as his ability to perform at his rookie-season level will be crucial for the team’s performance throughout the year. Despite the injury concerns, the team remains focused on having their key players, including Nacua, ready for the critical start of the regular season.
