Cleveland Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. was injured during practice on Wednesday, just a day after being arrested and charged with domestic violence for allegedly holding a gun to his fiancée’s head during an argument.

Hall got hurt during the first of two joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings. He was examined by trainers on the field before walking to the team’s facility for further checks. The injury occurred during an 11-on-11 drill.

Coach Kevin Stefanski didn’t have details about Hall’s injury because he was on a different field at the time.

On Tuesday, Hall appeared in Avon Lake Municipal Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the domestic violence charge. He was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond and is due back in court on Sept. 10, two days after the Browns’ season opener against Dallas.

The Browns are letting Hall practice while his legal issues are resolved.

Stefanski was asked about the decision to keep Hall active despite the legal situation.

“I understand what you’re asking, honestly,” Stefanski said. “But for us, we have to trust in the process and really it’s that.”

Stefanski gave similar responses to other questions about Hall’s legal troubles.

Police were called to Hall’s home in Avon on Monday night. The woman Hall lives with told police he became violent during a financial dispute and held a gun to her head. Police took two handguns from the residence.

Browns safety Rodney McLeod said the team will support Hall.

“We’re a team. We’re a family,” McLeod said. “We’re understanding that certain things are going to arise and take place and so you have to treat it as such. We’re all human beings and so for us we’re just trying to learn more about what took place and we will handle things accordingly.”
