Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said Thursday he is hopeful about reaching a new contract extension.

“Good conversations are going on, I will say that,” Prescott mentioned. He’s currently in the last year of a $160 million, four-year deal.

“Call it negotiations, whatever, conversations,” he added. “A lot of good things are going on there, so a lot of confidence. Once again, as I’ve said any time I feel like I’ve talked about it, I’ve got confidence in my guys, these guys getting something done.”

When asked how aware he is of the progress, Prescott joked, “depends on how good it (the offer) is.”

At 31 years old, Prescott has been relaxed about his contract situation during training camp.

He has expressed his wish to stay with the Cowboys, where he has played for all eight years of his career, but he understands that business matters might lead him to a different team next season.

Last season, Prescott passed for 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns with nine interceptions, marking his third season with over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

The Cowboys are managing two key contract issues: Prescott’s and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s, who is holding out of training camp while seeking a new deal. Prescott and Lamb have combined for 30 touchdowns over the last three seasons.
