Ivica Zubac, the center for the LA Clippers, has signed a three-year contract extension worth $58.6 million, which ensures he will remain with the team through the 2027-2028 season for a total of $70 million. This deal represents the maximum contract Zubac could secure under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, reflecting his significant role and value to the team.

In the previous season, Zubac had a standout performance, averaging a career-high 11.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. He notably excelled in the playoffs, scoring 16.2 points per game in a series against the Dallas Mavericks. His efficiency was highlighted by his 65% field goal shooting, which was the third-best in the league.

Defensively, Zubac was also impressive, holding opponents to a 49.6% shooting rate at the rim, the best among players who defended over 200 shots. This defensive prowess adds to his value, making him a key asset for the Clippers as they build their roster.

Entering his seventh season with the Clippers after being acquired from the Lakers in 2018, Zubac’s extension comes amidst significant changes for the team. The Clippers recently lost All-NBA forward Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers but have retained guard James Harden and added new free agents, including Nicolas Batum and Derrick Jones. Despite these changes, Zubac’s extension signifies his importance and stability within the team’s evolving roster.
