The Arizona Cardinals have placed starting right tackle Jonah Williams on injured reserve due to a knee injury he sustained during their season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Coach Jonathan Gannon announced this move on Wednesday, stating he’s “not going to speculate” on how long Williams will be out. By being placed on IR, Williams will be sidelined for at least four games.

Veteran Kelvin Beachum is a possible replacement. He came into the game for Williams after the injury occurred.

“Anyone that goes into the game, we feel good about,” Gannon said. “But, yes, there’s a comfort level with Beach, given his experience and the number of games he has played. However, we’ll be confident that whoever is in there will get the job done.”

Williams, who is 6-foot-5 and weighs 312 pounds, signed a two-year, $30 million contract with the Cardinals in the offseason after spending the previous four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was the No. 11 pick in the 2019 draft from Alabama.
