Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert’s right leg will be checked further this week after it was rolled up on during Los Angeles’ 26-3 win against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Coach Jim Harbaugh mentioned on Monday that X-rays showed no fractures and more details will be available on Wednesday when the Chargers start preparing for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

The Chargers will practice at UNC Charlotte this week due to their back-to-back games in the Eastern time zone.

The injury occurred late in the third quarter. Herbert moved up in the pocket as it collapsed, but linebacker D.J. Johnson rolled up on his lower right leg from behind as he fumbled the ball at the Carolina 20-yard line.

Herbert walked carefully to the sideline and pointed to his right ankle while speaking with trainers. He briefly went into the medical tent but did not miss any snaps after his ankle was taped.

Herbert finished the game with 14 completions on 20 attempts for 130 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. This was his lowest passing yard total in a full game in five NFL seasons.

“We’ll know more in the next couple of days, but was able to finish the game and keep moving around on it, so I’m looking forward to it,” Herbert said after the game.

Herbert missed two weeks during training camp due to a plantar fascia injury in his right foot but has been fully participating in practice during the first two weeks of the regular season.
