Antonio Conte’s return to Juventus was marked by boos from the crowd for the former Bianconeri star.
The match ended in a 0-0 tie between Juventus and Conte’s Napoli, who created more scoring chances on Saturday in Turin.
This result meant Juventus had their third consecutive goalless draw in Serie A, while Napoli’s winning streak of three games came to an end.
Conte played for Juventus for 13 years and led them to their first three out of nine straight Serie A titles before leaving in a difficult situation in 2014.
He had returned to Allianz Stadium before as coach of Juventus’ biggest rival, Inter Milan, but on those occasions, no fans were allowed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, at 55 years old, he is coaching another rival of Juventus. There were loud boos when Napoli’s lineup was announced, which grew louder when Conte’s name was called.
Scott McTominay, a former Manchester United player, made his first start under Conte and nearly scored in the 29th minute, but Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio made a great save and blocked Romelu Lukaku’s follow-up shot.
Di Gregorio made another impressive save just before halftime, using his fingertips to stop a free kick from Matteo Politano.
In the second half, Politano nearly scored a fantastic goal when he raced down the right side, cut inside, but his shot went just over the crossbar from outside the box.
Juventus’ best chance came in the 70th minute when Teun Koopmeiners curled a shot just over the bar.
